WITH VACCINATIONS, cautious reopenings and implementation of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, I see a kernel of hope slowly sprouting for the restaurant and hotel industry. Despite the confirmed loss of major long-term treasures such as Nobuo at Teeter House and Rancho Pinot and the challenges of finding staffs, I remain optimistic that the industry will be in a better place by fall.

Do your part by supporting independent local restaurants during the long, hot summer months. When you’re ready to dine out, go visit and get reacquainted with your favorites. If you’re not quite there yet, keep up the takeout. Check out a few of the new independent restaurants recently opened by brave souls following their dreams. And never again take for granted a quiet (or not-so-quiet) supper of lovingly prepared local food served with professionalism and a smile.
