A Cut Above

Newly launched Živel Natural Creations combines salvaged local wood with colorful fruits and vegetables to produce stunning wood and acrylic cutting boards. Working mainly with mesquite (but also other woods) sourced from a local arborist, owner Shawn Ellis highlights the trees’ natural grain.

In Czech, živel means “elements.” Ellis says, “Elements make up all things in nature. Our woodworking products combine elements such as wood, stone and metals to make one-of-a-kind pieces. The name has been a perfect fit.”

If you’re not yet ready to splurge on a large board, they also have smaller items that make thoughtful gifts: beautiful “bar” cutting boards and mini charcuterie board starter kits complete with water and snacks.
