Big Marble brand is about to become Arizona’s next soft drink company. The company’s sparkling ginger beer (nonalcoholic) has a pronounced ginger taste and the beverage is utterly refreshing.

Chef Danielle Leoni and her husband, Dwayne Allen, started making Big Marble ginger beer in 2013 at their restaurant, The Breadfruit & Rum Bar, as an ingredient for their renowned rum cocktails. After experimenting with the recipe, they have purchased commercial bottling equipment and are ready to roll out the soda to a wider audience.

Big Marble is a nickname Dwayne had as a toddler, but the name also represents being conscious of our impact on the earth so the sodas will be produced responsibly. Dwayne says the ginger beer hearkens back to the Jamaican way of enjoying a soft drink: not because you’re thirsty, but as a special treat.

Big Marble will also sell other flavors incorporating seasonal ingredients. From strawberries in Yuma, to Arizona beets, prickly pear and citrus, and even using grapes from our Arizona winegrowers, we can expect some homegrown flavors.

Look for the new, local ginger beer in November at local retailers, bars and restaurants.
