Why We Love It: You drive through miles of desert nothingness and all of a sudden, you see hundreds of date trees. Welcome to Dateland, a quaint town that used to serve as a much-needed pit stop and military training camp. A lot of the original businesses are still here. Most importantly, the Date Grove, which produces four kinds of dates (including the Medjool, which was originally grown in Morocco exclusively for royalty) and the store selling all kinds of date-related products including stuffed dates, chocolate dates, date rolls, date milkshakes and even date trees.
