My Secret Love Revealed
I am at my best when the temperatures drop
Warm fires, late harvests, and sweater weather
Winter is abundant with such things
Friends, lovers and special times but
A winter romance is hard to find
Patiently I wait until the moment is just right
You are carefully hidden beneath your green top
A hint of the pleasure that lies from under
Soon I will hope to experience this bliss
I will reveal my secret
You are such an earthy delight
For I know most will say
“Root Vegetables are common,
You know you have a problem?”
It is time to profess my true love to you,
Typical to some but not to me….
Your purple top and white behind
More than just a handful but exactly what I like
You have been underrated and overlooked by many
But now, with overwhelming joy
I will shout it from the rooftops
You are the greatest love of mine!
So join my family of root vegetables
Stowed in my cellar of lovers adored
Unearthed from the ground for my simple pleasure
Purple and white…My lovely Turnip du jour.
