Tratto

Joining the group of James Beard Award-winner Chris Bianco's restaurants in Phoenix, Tratto recognizes its desert roots while sourcing its ingredients, yet remainis Italian at heart. In line with Bianco's other eateries, the menu is seasonal and fresh, and the focus on quality is apparent. To make reservations and see hours, visit their website.

Roland's Cafe Market Bar - CLOSED

Roland's is owned by Tacos Chiwas husband-and-wife team Nadia Holguin and Armando Hernandez and co-owned by Chris Bianco. While the food is Mexican, unlike Bianco's counterpart restaurants, the flair for quality ingredients and spinning new ideas on the classics remains. The mortadella quesadilla is a mouth-watering favorite. In addition to its regular menu, Roland's boasts a cafe with pastries, and an impressive cocktail menu. All-day hours make it a good stop for both a quick bite or a longer meal.

Pane Bianco

Noted in Food and Wine's Best Sandwiches of 2018, Pane Bianco is a lunch-only shop opened by Chris Bianco. There are many midday options, including the simple yet tasty classic caprese sandwich with fresh mozzarella, basil and tomato. The focus is always on fresh, which, of course, includes the made-daily bread. Visit their website for more information.

The Joy Bus Diner

This not for profit neighborhood diner serves breakfast and lunch favorites, like chicken and waffles, eggs benedict, burgers and patty melts. All proceeds go The Joy Bus, a charity that creates and delivers delicious, chef-made meals to those dealing with the side effects of cancer and cancer treatment.

Ocotillo Restaurant

Along with an inventive menu and an upscale yet relaxed ambiance, the chicken is a must-have. Local tastes and traditions of the region are all captured in one dish, from the mesquite preparation (mesquite trees have adapted well to arid regions such as Phoenix), citrus flavors, chiles and local honey, among its ingredients.
