Why We Love It: Rhiba started as a little greenhouse in the backyard. Slowly, farming became a full-time business and a ranch was purchased in Gilbert so that they could grow organic fruits and vegetables and raise some chickens. Ever hear of adopting a chicken? You basically pay for room and board of a chicken for 90 days and get 6 fresh eggs every week in return. Pretty cool, right? Rhiba also has a great selection of shoots—including broccoli, pea, arugula, radish, sunflower.

About RhibaFarm's CSA: RhibaFarms, another of our Local Hero Award winners, is an "à la carte" CSA—meaning that members can order according to their own palates, without worrying about being stuck with a pound of some vegetable they don’t like. Interestingly, it also offers a “grow to order” option, which lets members request specific produce from the farmers. The à la carte option means there's no set weekly price, and pickups take place at the Whole Foods in Paradise Valley (Thursdays), the Gilbert Farmers' Market (Saturdays) or 3498 N San Marcos Place, Suite #1 in Chandler (Fridays).
