Cookies at Home cookbook cover

Just in time for the holidays, Gina Buskirk’s Cookies at Home cookbook has arrived. You may know Buskirk from her artisan cheese business, Gina’s Homemade, or from her new blog, Gina@Home. Many of the recipes hail from Buskirk’s Italian roots (pizzelle, Italian S and wedding cookies), but there are also plenty of basic American cookies and even a recently rediscovered family heirloom (the aptly titled “Best Little Cookie Ever”).

For the holidays Buskirk has perfected a basic sugar cookie recipe that just begs to be decorated. She also provides four variations (including red velvet) on the classic dusted crinkle cookie, a couple of thumbprint varieties and a snickerdoodle recipe.

More daring additions to these classics include the salted caramel sandwich cookie, a double trouble cookie (peanut butter and chocolate), brown sugar and oatmeal shortbread and a cinnamon roll cookie.

For reluctant bakers, Buskirk talks you through the cookie-making process and provides plenty of hints in case you’re missing an ingredient or things Gin quite go as planned.gina
