Grandma Flinn’s Rum Balls

Grandma Flinn’s Rum Balls

Shannan Perciballi
Our family begged my grandmother, Catherine Fern Flinn, to make these every holiday season. Some of my fondest memories were made in her kitchen—sticky fingers and a dusting of powdered sugar coating my tiny hands—stealing “just one more” before dinner.
Servings 48 balls

Ingredients

  • 12- ounce package vanilla wafer cookies, crushed
  • ¾ cup confectioners’ sugar
  • cups chopped walnuts
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • ½ cup spiced rum

Instructions

  • Combine vanilla wafers, sugar, nuts and cocoa powder in bowl. Stir in corn syrup and rum until thoroughly incorporated. Scoop and shape into balls (we used a teaspoon scoop). Roll in powdered sugar. Store in airtight container 3–4 days to allow flavors to develop. Roll in sugar again prior to serving.
