Why We Love It: What used to be three acres of weed-choked desert land is now a sanctuary of fruit trees and gardens with goats, chickens and a world-class caramel shop. The caramels are made from sweet raw goat’s milk from the hand-milked herd, organic butter, cream, non-GMO organic corn syrup and Madagascar bourbon vanilla. You can order them online. They also have a CSA and offer farm-to-table gatherings and events.

About Simple Farm’s CSA: Though it grows its own fruits and vegetables, the Simple Farm is primarily a goat dairy farm, and savvy shoppers know to pick up some of the farm’s organic, homemade goat’s-milk salted caramels with their CSA goodies. Shares ($175 for a seven-week season) include vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, and eggs from the farm, along with occasional items from other local farms that have similar growing practices. Additional add-ons can include cheese, specialty butters, bread, honey, chocolates, or grass-fed beef, and all pickups take place at the farm.
