Why We Love It: Gertrude started the Desert Botanical Garden in 1939. But, it wasn’t until 2013 that the restaurant was created to celebrate the desert Gertrude cared so much to preserve and promote. New chef Matt Taylor’s menu is all-American with barbecue, gumbo and tepary bean hummus—and uses locally sourced ingredients, including herbs and vegetables from their own garden.
