Welcome to the wonderful world of Canning! Often times we buy canned foods in the grocery store such as jams, salsas, relishes, etc. This class is all about making homemade preserves and canning them safely. If you have been interested in learning this old world sustainable preservation technique, this is the perfect class for you!

In this class you will learn how to make homemade preserves, explore the standards of safely canning them and also bring some home.

Rio Salado culinary workshops are designed for the beginner, are fun and low pressure. Workshops are hands on and participants will be standing for the majority of the workshop. Workshops are generally made up of 16 students and we work in teams of 4. We want the group to work safe, learn new techniques and recipes to their culinary repertoire and most importantly, HAVE FUN! Proper kitchen attire is required which includes: closed toe shoes, long pant and long or short sleeve shirt. Please restrain hair while in the kitchen.
